About the Authors

samantha

Samantha Allard: Once upon a time, in a galaxy far away, passed the farthest star in the sky and where the horizon meets for its kiss with the land, Samantha battled evil drones. The drones were six feet tall, had three sets of hands, and it was best if you didn’t mention the third eye. (They don’t like it when you bring it up.) She wields words like a sword in her hand and cuts down her foes with the skill of a ballerina wearing flip-flops and juggling chainsaws. (She knows how to multitask.)

Michelle

Michelle Cornwell-Jordan: is a New Adult/Young Adult Author, who enjoys writing Paranormal, Dystopian and Dark Fiction. She is also the producer (and one of the Hosts) for the online radio segment IndieReview Behind The Scenes Internet

Most recently he is a blogger and works to share his love of the past and all things steampunk (whenever he is not working as a shrink). You may learn more about him at The Hidden Library of Michael-Cross or on Twitter @TheCrossLibrary.

Nicole L Daffurn: Nicole’s love for the written word has seen her write many short stories and poems and then eventually moving on to tackle the bigger task of novel writing late in 2011. After developing the medical condition M.E. / C.F.S., Kim turned to writing to escape the pressures of disabled living, only to become hooked on the incredible world of publishing. As an author for Clean Teen Publishing, Kim spends most of her time locked in the writing cave with an obscenely large mug of tea. When not writing, she can be found studying for her MA in Linguistics, watching classic British comedy, or concocting evil schemes in the secret laboratory in her attic.

Getting her degree in creative writing and her master’s in journalism she couldn’t wait to get a chance to put her fantasies down on paper.  From paranormal romance to thriller there isn’t a genre she doesn’t love to spend her time reading or writing.

Publsih Your Own Work

Are rejection letters keeping you from being published? Why?

Old_book_bindingsWith the ease and popularity of self-publishing there is no reason you can’t put your book out there for the world to read.

In this article I will provide some helpful information to help you get your book published.

Okay you have written your book and edited your book. It is perfect; ready to publish. So now what? Now you publish. With the use of Amazon, Smashwords or any other self-publishing company you decide to use it is easier than ever to self-publish. These sites help you with formatting, cover designs, ISBNs, and even marketing. Self-publishing sites offer these services because if you sell books and make money then they make money. So take full advantage of these services. I do.

When I published my debut novel I used a printing company to print my books, I hired a cover designer, I hired a high priced editor, I purchased expensive ISBNs. All in all, my debut novel cost me around $2500 for all of these services and 100 copies. That didn’t include any type of distribution; all I had out there was that 100 copies and they were all sold locally (usually at book signings). I wrote and published a second novel for around the same price and still no real distribution. Then I got smart. I used Amazon to publish my third novel, fourth novel, two short stories and two children’s books. I was able to get these published for a fraction of the cost and available to millions of people. Through writer connections I found very good reasonably priced editors. I also discovered stock photos, which I used for professionally looking cover designs created using Amazon’s Create Space. I was able to purchase ISBNs through Create Space for a fraction of the price. I used Create Space to publish in paperback and on Kindle. And BAM!! I had a book published for around $400 for the services and 100 copies of my book plus I had my book available online through Amazon in paperback and in Kindle formats.

So my friend, if you are waiting on a publishing company to send you that golden letter; stop waiting. If you wrote that book then you are definitely smart enough to publish that book yourself.

Vengeance Is Mine by Harry James Krebs

Vengeance is Mine photo Vengeance-is-Mine.jpg
Title: Vengeance is Mine

Author:  Harry James Krebs
Published:  January 30th, 2014
Publisher:  Peak City Publishing
Word Count:  96,000
Genre:  Mystery
Content Warning:  Profanity, Aftermath Violence
Recommended Age:  16+

Driven by a traumatic, violent event in his teenage years, Benjamin Tucker, bestselling true crime author, is obsessed with helping authorities solve savage crimes near his home turf of Holly Springs, North Carolina. When a series of decapitated female victims is found in neighboring communities, he is helplessly drawn in to the investigation to help bring the killer to justice. But in a bizarre twist of events, the psychopathic murderer becomes fascinated with Tucker and stalks him, presenting him with unimaginable, grotesque gifts. The hunt for the killer turns personal and Tucker is not sure if he’s become the killer’s idol or his next victim. Vengeance is Mine, a gripping thriller with a healthy dose of droll humor, is a tale of sadistic revenge guaranteed to keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very last page.

Excerpt:
Another ten minutes passed before I answered the call that would change the entire investigation–for me.
“Crime tip hotline,” I said.
“Is this Benjamin Tucker?” It was a male voice.
“Yes, it is. I need to tell you that this call is being recorded.”
“I was expecting it would be. May I call you Ben?”
“Yes, how can I help you?”
“I’m the man you’re looking for. I’m Jack Plum.”
I rolled my eyes. “I’m sorry if I sound skeptical, but you’re the third person today to make that claim. Can you give me information or some detail that will confirm you are, in fact, whom you claim to be?”
His next words made my blood run cold. “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”
I jumped out of my chair, snapped my fingers twice, and pointed to the phone. The dispatcher understood, nodded, and immediately dialed someone to begin a trace of the call.
I took a deep breath. “You have my attention,” I said.
“Is this call being traced?”

“No. All calls are anonymous unless requested otherwise.”

“You’re lying to me, Ben. But it doesn’t matter. I saw you on TV the other night, and I knew when I saw you that the two of us have a destiny.”

The dispatcher had patched into the call and was now listening. She gestured for me to keep Plum talking.

“How do you figure that?” I asked.

“You are the one to write my story. I read your book and it was … inspirational. I knew you were the one. I researched you, and now I know everything about you…and that rich wife of yours. She’s very beautiful … so is Sally Briggum.” The statement scared the hell out of me.

“Let’s leave them out of this,” I said. “Why is it you’ve taken the lives of two women?”

“In due time, Ben. In due time.”

“Will you surrender to authorities? I can make arrangements so you’ll be safe.”
The caller laughed softly. “Please. Don’t insult my intelligence. Besides, I’m not through yet. I’ve only just begun. I can’t tell you how much I’ve been invigorated since finding you.”
“Please don’t hurt anyone else. Maybe we can meet–just the two of us. We can talk–figure things out.”
The dispatcher was violently shaking her head, as if saying, “No! Are you freaking crazy?”
“We will meet, Ben … someday.” He paused. “I have a gift for you … a very special gift. I’m looking at it right now.”
I became nauseous. “What is it?” I asked. There was no reply. The dispatcher motioned for me to keep him talking.
“Jack?” I asked. “Talk to me. Hello? Jack? Are you there?” I put the system on mute, and turned to the dispatcher.
 “I don’t think he’s there anymore,” I said.
She looked at her control console. “The line’s still connected so try and get him to talk.”
“Jack? Let me know what you want. I can get you some help. Jack? Are you there? Hello?”
The dispatcher jumped up and I muted the system again. “We have it!” she said. “237 West Bradford–about three miles from here!”
Ice ran through my veins, and I tore the headset off as I instantly recognized my former address. I collapsed in my seat with my face in my hands.
“Oh good Christ!” I cried. “Amanda Jane!”

Advice to new writers

The one big thing I’ve learned about being a writer is it’s not a profession but rather it’s a lifestyle, a vocation–an I-can’t-live-without-it kind of deal like, um, chocolate or sex. I have many friends who go to their 9 to 5 jobs and then come home and put their work behind them, yet a writer could never do that. Once you commit to writing, you are in it for the long haul. That means that even when you’re not sitting at your desk churning out your next bestseller, you are daydreaming. Or at least that’s how it seems to others. Yet really you are studying your protagonist, considering how she might react in a certain situation, gathering details for your story from the world around you. Just as my heart doesn’t stop beating even when I sleep, my mind is still thinking about my book, even when I’m not writing.

So my advice to new writers is simple.

Don’t feel guilty about what you love to do and must do. Don’t worry about telling friends you can’t come out and play because you’re writing–pretty much all the time. You will have many people who don’t understand and who think you’re selfish. They will put their own fears and worries onto you because they haven’t yet scratched their own creative itch. Yes, they will get sick and tired of hearing you say the same thing over and over. Remember, hat’s their problem not yours. Your job is to write every day. Not to write on the side of your desk or in between the more important stuff. Writing is the important stuff and if you don’t get that derriere of yours in that chair–if you don’t show up–then nothing will happen. Ever. Make a promise to yourself to write as much as you can. Before work, before the kids wake up, while at the dentist’s office, on the commute to work. Many books were written by famous authors while at their place of work! You don’t need perfect conditions, you just need to commit to it and stay the course.

I believe in you. I know you can do it.

My Review

The Messenger is the first installment of The Chronicles of the Shroud series by Stefan Allen and Jerry Sword. It is a riveting book that explores the possibilities in which the second coming of Christ will ensue. The story surrounds the search for the Shroud of Turin by the several different characters and the lives of the characters that are searching for the Shroud.

The Messenger includes everything in it to make an excellent book. The story line is enthralling and keeps the reader on the edge of their set until the very last page, and then it leaves them wanting more.  There were so many unanswered questions and so many possibilities for the characters that were left open leaving the reader wondering what would follow in the next book.

The characters are well developed and show great depth; the reader feels as if they know these characters personally. The dialog and the relationships between the characters were amazing and dynamic. The history and the location are wonderfully accurate. This aspect makes the story more believable.

If you believe in miracles and trust in science this book was written for you.  This was a wonderful first book and I cannot wait for the next installment.

In addition to her impressive musical talent, Cecile’s cosmopolitan personality and multicultural roots (half European and half Hispanic) also broaden her appeal to an international audience; Cecile is fluent in several languages and has recorded and performed songs in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Czech, and Latin.

In 2010, Cecile Monique was awarded the prestigious FACTOR New Talent Award in support of her self-titled EP release featuring three of her original compositions, which was recorded at Metalworks Studios, Canada’s #1 recording studio. With the launch of her new EP now available on iTunes worldwide, and a myriad of new projects on the horizon, Cecile Monique is a rising star poised to become an international phenomenon.
